Alyson Hannigan, Connie Ray, Todd Stashwick & more join Kim Possible movie

Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) and Connie Ray (The Big C) have been cast in the live-action Disney Channel original movie Kim Possible, based on the global hit animated series about an everyday high school girl who, in her spare time, saves the world from villains. Hannigan is set to play the role of brain surgeon Dr. Ann Possible (aka Mom Possible) and Ray will play grandmother Nana Possible.

Also joining the cast are Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys) and Taylor Ortega who will play fan-favorite villains Drakken and Shego, respectively; Ciara Wilson (OMG!) as new high school student Athena; and Erika Tham (Make It Pop) as Kim’s childhood frenemy, Bonnie. They join the previously announced leads, Sadie Stanley as Kim Possible and Sean Giambrone as Ron Stoppable.

The animated comedy-adventure series launched in 2002 and centered on a strong teenager who uses her brain, heart, and expertise to save the day. Throughout 87 episodes, Kim Possible traversed the social hierarchy of high school and, with her loyal sidekick Ron Stoppable and his naked mole-rat Rufus by her side, thwarted power-hungry villains Drakken and Shego, among others. It inspired two popular animated original movies, Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama in 2005, which was the first animated title in the Disney Channel original movie franchise, and Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time in 2003.

Viewers’ connection to Kim Possible also led to an off-TV franchise, including Kim Possible and Rob Stoppable characters at Disney Parks & Resorts and a line of Kim Possible branded consumer products at mass retail, soundtracks, books and games.

The Emmy Award-winning series garnered additional accolades from the Parents’ Choice Foundation, the International Animated Film Society’s Annie Awards and Italy’s Pulcinella Award for Best Program and Best TV Series for Children.

The writers of the Kim Possible live-action movie are the creators of the animated series, Emmy Award-winning Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley (Big Hero 6 The Series, The Penguins of Madagascar) and Josh Cagan (The DUFF, Bandslam). The executive producers are McCorkle, Schooley, and Zanne Devine, whose producing credits include I, Tonya and Easy A. The movie will be co-directed and co-produced by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky (Mech-X4). Blyth Nailling (Last Man Standing, Scrubs) is the casting director.

Hannigan can also be heard as the voice of Fancy Nancy’s mom, Claire Clancy, in Disney Junior’s upcoming animated series Fancy Nancy, based on the New York Times bestselling books.

Kim Possible is set to debut in 2019.

James Mangold to Write and Direct Boba Fett Movie!

James Mangold to write and direct Boba Fett movie!

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Logan director James Mangold will write and direct a standalone Boba Fett movie for Lucasfilm. The film will follow in the footsteps of Rogue One and Solo as standalone “Star Wars Stories,” anthology movies from the galaxy far, far away.

A bounty hunter, Boba Fett made his debut in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back originally (before “The Special Edition” of A New Hope gave him an earlier appearance) as one of the bounty hunters hired by the Empire to find the Millennium Falcon. Fett succeeded in his mission and took Han Solo back to Jabba’s Palace, where he would meet an untimely end in the Sarlac Pitt. Some say he’s still being digested to this day. The character also appeared as a young boy in Star Wars: Episode II, where it was revealed that his classic look and ship came from his father Jango Fett, who was also the basis for the titular Clone army. The character has long been a fan favorite.

Mangold’s other credits include The Wolverine, his first forray into the X-Men, as well as the Academy Award winning biopic of Johnny Cash, Walk the Line, and the remake of the western film 3:10 to Yuma.

Previously it was reported that Chronicle director Josh Trank and X-Men: Days of Future Past writer/producer Simon Kinberg were working on a Fett movie, but that project fell apart due to a number of factors.

Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a number of standalone movies to expand the Star Wars universe on the big screen including an Obi-Wan Kenobi film with director Stephen Daldry and rumors that they’re interested in a Yoda solo movie as well.

EON and MGM Partner with Universal for Bond 25 release

EON and MGM partner with Universal for Bond 25 release

EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM) have reached an agreement with Universal Pictures to partner on the worldwide release of the 25th James Bond film. Daniel Craig will return as 007, the legendary British secret agent, and Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Steve Jobs) will direct from an original screenplay by Academy Award nominee John Hodge (Trainspotting).

Production on Bond 25 is set to begin at the end of the year on December 3. MGM will release the film theatrically in the U.S. on November 8, 2019 through its new joint venture for domestic theatrical distribution with Annapurna Pictures, and Universal will release internationally commencing with a traditional earlier release in the U.K. on October 25, 2019.

Under this arrangement, MGM will retain digital and worldwide television distribution rights. Universal will also handle physical home entertainment distribution.

EON Productions’ Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, commented, “We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.”

“Under the leadership of Michael and Barbara, we couldn’t be more thrilled than to bring the next 007 adventure to the big screen uniting the incomparable Daniel Craig with the extraordinary vision of Danny Boyle,” said Kevin Ulrich, MGM’s Chairman of the Board of Directors

Jonathan Glickman, President, Motion Picture Group added, “It has been 16 years since Die Another Day was distributed by MGM and it’s incredibly gratifying to be releasing this film alongside the powerhouse team at Universal.”

“Universal is extremely proud to collaborate with Michael, Barbara and MGM on the international marketing and distribution of Bond 25,” said Donna Langley Chairman of Universal Pictures. “The unparalleled combination of Danny’s innovative filmmaking and Daniel’s embodiment of 007 ensured we simply had to be partners in the next chapter of this iconic series.”

The 24th James Bond film, Spectre, opened in U.S. theaters on November 16, 2015. The film earned $200 million domestically and $680.6 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $880.7 million.
