This will be the first time when Huma Qureshi will be sharing screen space with South megastar Rajinikanth. If that wasn’t enough, the actress will be seen in an unconventional and strong role in the superstar’s film Kaala. But besides these known facts, let us tell you that her character will also undergo many changes as it will span not one but three decades!

Recent reports have it that Kaala will see Huma Qureshi playing a 20 year old to a 50 year old and will see her character mature over time. The recent poster of the film introduced us to the actress’ role in the film – Zareena. The actress has shot for the film’s schedule for over 45 days.

Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, Kaala is set amidst the slums of Dharavi. Rajinikanth’s role is expected to be a grey-shaded one. The details of the role played by Huma Qureshi in the film is still said to be kept under wraps. The actress, in earlier reports, had expressed her happiness over acting with a superstar like Rajinikanth. She had described him as an inspiring and amazing human being. She had also stated that the entire shoot was a learning experience for her.

This is the second South superstar Huma Qureshi is collaborating with. She had earlier featured opposite Malayalam star Mammootty in a film titled White that released in 2016.

On the Bollywood front, Huma is yet to reveal about her work commitments. The actress recently was in Cannes owing to her association with a liquor brand. During the film festival at the French Riviera, the actress also spoke about sexual harassment and stressed on the need of helping out women who are victims of such crimes.

As for Kaala, directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film is slated to release on June 7.

Yami Gautam has been busy prepping for her role in Uri, the Aditya Dhar film that is based on the Uri attacks of 2016. But at the same time, she has also restarted her prep for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. After much delay in the shoot, the major schedule of this Shree Narayan Singh directorial is finally said to be back on track and the actress has now started the prep.

For the uninitiated, Batti Gul Meter Chalu discusses the discrepancies of electric billing in small towns. As this is an issue that plagues many people across the country, there are various cases that are brought to court by unhappy consumers. Though these cases are against big companies, there is a lot of research that goes into becoming the prosecution for something like this.

Considering that Yami Gautam is playing a lawyer, she is hoping to catch a few court proceedings. She wishes to understand the grievances first hand, see how the prosecution addresses it and also study what certain verdicts have been.

When asked about the plan she said, “I am planning to attend one of the court sessions for sure before starting Batti Gul Meter Chalu. As of now since its summer holidays, my lawyer friend and team are figuring a vacation bench session that I can attend on the basis my schedule currently. I am looking forward to the real experience at a court.”

Batti Gul Meter Chalu also stars Shahid Kapoor in the role of a lawyer. However, the film will feature Shraddha Kapoor as the leading lady. The film, which has only Bhushan Kumar as its sole producer, will release on August 31.

Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania are coming up with an all-girls madcap film, Veere Di Wedding, directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Rhea and Ekta Kapoor. The buzz around the movie is super positive and everything from the trailer, music to the first rushes of the film has had masses talking about this project. Also, this film is supposed to be Kareena’s comeback vehicle after maternity break and therefore the entire hullabaloo about it is sort of justified. The film has a coming of age plot and features four friends and their lives. All four women are going all out promoting the movie. At the recent promotional event, they were asked if the movie was made with four men who would they cast in it. Okay so the names that popped were Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Abhay Deol among others. But you should know the comments the two Kapoor girls gave while they said that they wanted to cast Ranbir.

While Sonam’s first choice to play Kareena’s character was Hrithik, Bebo replied that Ranbir Kapoor would essay her role. Sonam’s report to this was mind-blowing. She said, “Ranbir? Haan, for sure! He’ll be running.” Is she hinting at the Kapoor scion’s Casanova real life image? Whoa, we sure wanted to hear what the Sanju star wants to say about this. Also, we know there is some history between Sonam and Ranbir so we are not even surprised that she said this.

Veere Di Wedding is a pretty personal film for all four actresses and we want this film to do well at the box office simply because inspired by its success, more women oriented films will be made.
